Terms of Use

For everyone who reports to us – last updated October 2026

The German version is legally binding. This English translation is provided for convenience only.

1. What these terms cover

These terms of use apply when you report a case of online hate to us via this website or by email. The provider is:

Hass-Hetze – Stephan Rajewski
Palmaille 7, 22767 Hamburg, Germany
Email: info@hass-hetze.de

How we handle your data is set out in our privacy policy at /en/datenschutz.

2. What Hass-Hetze does – and what it doesn't

We read your report, review it and refer it to a partner law firm if a suitable one is available and you agree.

Hass-Hetze is not a law firm and provides no legal services (within the meaning of the German Legal Services Act, Rechtsdienstleistungsgesetz, RDG). We do not assess your case legally and cannot tell you how it will turn out. Only a law firm can do that.

  • ›

You have no entitlement to us referring your report or to a law firm representing you. Our network is still growing, and a suitable law firm is not always available.

  • ›

We usually reply within 2 working days. That is our aim, not a promise.

  • ›

We do not file a request for prosecution (Strafantrag) or a criminal complaint for you. The deadline for a request for prosecution is three months – don't wait for us.

3. Costs

Reporting and referral are free of charge for you. If you instruct a law firm, you enter into a separate contract with it (a mandate). This may involve costs – the law firm discusses them with you before you instruct it. Law firms pay us nothing for referrals.

4. What we expect from you

When you report:

  • ›

Give truthful information and describe what happened as precisely as you can.

  • ›

Do not send nude or intimate images, not even screenshots of them. Describe what happened instead and send the link.

  • ›

Never send nude images or sexual depictions of anyone under 18 – not even of yourself. Possessing or forwarding such images can be a criminal offence, even if you only want to help. Just note where you saw it and contact the police.

  • ›

Do not send any other content whose possession or forwarding is a criminal offence.

  • ›

Only give details about other people as far as the report needs them – such as the profile name and link of the person who attacked you. No ID documents, passwords or bank details.

If we receive such content nonetheless, we do not pass it on and delete it unless the law requires otherwise. We do not process reports intended to harm someone else.

5. If you are under 18

You can report to us even if you are not yet an adult. If you are under 16, we also need the consent of your parents or other legal guardians to pass your report on to a law firm. For minors, the request for prosecution is usually filed by the parents.

6. Referral to a law firm

We pass your report on to a partner law firm only with your consent. We ask you first, and you say yes or no. A mandate is formed only between you and the law firm, not with Hass-Hetze. The law firm decides for itself whether to represent you.

7. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health. Otherwise, we are liable only in accordance with the statutory provisions.

We are not liable for the work of the law firms: each law firm advises and represents you independently and on its own responsibility. Any deadlines we give you are calculated for guidance only. The articles in our “Knowledge” section are general information, not advice on an individual case.

8. Changes

We may change these terms of use, for example if our service or the law changes. Your report is governed by the version in force when you sent it. If anything material changes for a report in progress, we let you know beforehand.

9. Applicable law

German law applies. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection granted to you by the mandatory consumer protection rules there.
